FOOD BASICS STORES

PROVIDE BASIC CLOTHING TO WINDALL

During the late summer, early fall, Windfall had the pleasure and privilege of working with the wonderful people at Food Basics on an incredible donation!

Food Basics grocery stores had a surplus of their clothing basic line including women’s tops, children’s clothing, winter jackets, hats, mitts and scarves and jewellery. Food Basics staff contacted Windfall to arrange for a large clothing donation of over 50,000 pieces. Windfall staff and representatives from our partner agencies worked together to organize pick-ups at over 80 Food Basics stores throughout Ontario. The agency representatives picked up boxes of donations and took them back to the clients in their programs. “We are pleased to be able to help our community, especially those in need,” said Dave Darling, Food Basics Store Manager.

The NEW clothing will make a significant difference in the lives of so many adults and children that are struggling with poverty. "New clothes mean EVERYTHING to us. They not only provide self-esteem and confidence, they ensure a level playing field and a positive outcome during a job interview.  We appreciate the support we receive from Windfall Clothing Service,“ said Linda Marlene Reid, a graduate of Dixon Hall’s BEST: Business Employability Skills Training program that depends upon Windfall for women’s work clothing.
