Clothing and other basic-needs items donors are at the foundation of our service. The reasons that suppliers donate items vary. Prior to the existence of Windfall, manufacturers were often forced to store their surplus (unsold ends of lines, samples and seconds) for periods of time, sell it to jobbers below value, burn it, or send it to landfill sites.
All of these options were costly and wasteful. The opportunity to send new items to Windfall, for re-distribution to needy citizens through social service agencies, fulfils both business and social imperatives for many companies. As a result, our list of donors continues to grow. Since 1991, more than 500 manufacturers and retailers have donated millions of items to Windfall.
